Living near a lake brings so many opportunities for families. You can swim, play in the sand, kayak, boat, and of course have a photography session there! As a Bay Village family photographer I absolutely love using Huntington Beach and Lake Erie as a location. It works beautifully for families, couples, seniors, branding, and more. I am so excited to share this really fun family lake session today!

Bay Village Family Photographer – Light at the Lake

We had a beautiful day in May for this session but we also had full sun. An important thing to know about shooting at the lake in full sun is that you want to either shoot right at sunrise or sunset for the most flattering light. We went with sunset for this one but the sun was still giving off some pretty harsh light early on so we started above the beach in the greenery area first. That spot was just perfect and had such beautiful soft light! As your Bay Village family photographer I always make sure we schedule your session for the best possible time of day so you get the prettiest and most flattering light!

This Lifestyle Family Session

This family was so sweet. I could tell it might take a moment for their son to warm up to me so I talked with his mom in advance and we planned on him bringing some of his Lego creations to get a photo with! Taking photos of children with toys or creations they love is one of the best ways I get them to feel comfortable right from the start. You could see how much he loved showing them off and the joy it brought him to have those as part of his session. Once he warmed up there was no stopping him!

Lake Sessions Bring The Fun

A lake session was a perfect fit for these nature lovers! They were hoping for a relaxed family session which is absolutely my thing. I got beautiful shots of all kinds – the whole family together, then pairs of mom and son, dad and son, and mom and dad. This couple was actually celebrating their tenth anniversary so I really loved getting some shots of just the two of them as well. Such a special thing to document! Overall we smiled, laughed, splashed, got dirty, and had the best time together out there on that beach!
