There are so many beautiful locations to have your family photography sessions around the Cleveland area. However, one of the best places to be, in my personal opinion, is right in your own home! Perks to In-Home Lifestyle Photography Sessions

Being at home for a photography session brings on so many perks! I love it because you and your loved ones are all so much more comfortable right off the bat! Yes, you may need to do a little bit of cleaning and decluttering before I visit, but it is so worth it. When you think about where you spend family time everyday… what do you picture? I would image it would be inside your home! Is there a place that’s more you than your home, the space you live in and decorated yourself? Probably not, at least I hope not! Other perks to in-home sessions include: you won’t be late to your session, a change of clothes is very easy (with many options as well), and you’ve already got snacks there!

What To Do For An In-Home Photography Session

Let me start off by saying I offer lifestyle sessions as well as documentary sessions. A lifestyle session has more structure to it. I will have you all sit together and look at my for a photo, but I will mostly give you prompts as well. A documentary session means I do not give any prompts or tell you what to do at all. For a documentary session I suggest planning some things to do such as: playing, creating something, baking or cooking, making art, even having a water fight in the back yard could work. A lot of my in-home sessions end up a bit of a combination of these two types of sessions.

I had known this family since the youngest was in Mama’s belly here. The collection they chose was for maternity photos, newborn photos, and this session was one-year photos. They also did a Christmas Tree Mini with me in the middle of the last two sessions so I had spent some good time with them in the past year. This family is so sweet and really down to earth. I love how easy it was to talk to them and I think because we got along so well they felt comfortable just hanging out as they typically would at home.

This In-Home Family Lifestyle Photography Session

Since this session was also a one year session for their little guy we kicked things off in his room. First I got some of him in the crib, which he was not enjoying by himself, so quickly out he went to be with Mama. Next, I got some of him and Dad there and following that, him and his sister. Of course his sister wanted to show me her room so that was our next space. His big sister totally cracks me up, and I loved getting shots of her in her own room. We did a few photos on Mom & Dad’s bed, but the kiddos were wanting to move so we headed downstairs to play.

I absolutely love the shots I got of their little guy walking around (one with drool in it as well, look for that one). The ones of their daughter with the dinosaurs are another favorite series. Lastly, we did a few shots outside. I got some of Dad and son out there as well as Mom and daughter. Of course I got the whole family as well. I think it’s important to get a shot of the whole family together in front of their house. It’s a classic shot that will always bring back memories whenever you see it.
