FINALLY sharing one of my favorite sessions from 2021! As a Cleveland Metropark family photographer I always love getting to use these incredible parks as a backdrop – and this one gave us so much more than we bargained for. So many favorite photographs came from our time together so I am warning you ahead of time… you may do a lot of scrolling. You are just going to have to deal and enjoy!

Cleveland Metropark Family Photographer – A Familiar Family

Let me start off by saying I have always had wonderful sessions with this family. Their first session was a sunrise session where we met in a field and there was the most gorgeous fog – the way the light was hitting it was just incredible! It said 0% chance of rain that morning so we thought we would stay dry… boy were we wrong!

Always Start Off Playing and Exploring

We arrived at the Metropark location and even though it was cloudy I knew I could still work with that. I was a little bummed we would not get to see that gorgeous golden hour sunrise light but we were there and ready so we went with it! We started out by doing a little playing and exploring which always works so well with families of young kiddos. They typically want to explore and this location was just perfect for throwing rocks into the river! It was the perfect activity to capture while the kiddos warmed up. Little did we know the unexpected rain was rolling in fast…

It’s All About Your Mindset

I can actually see in my photos the moment the boys started to notice the rain – one liked it a bit more than the other in the beginning! As a Cleveland Metropark family photographer I honestly was not sure if we were going to have to run to the cars and reschedule. Lucky for me this family just completely rolled with it. I cannot say enough how amazing that is!! Some families would worry about clothes getting wet, hair getting soaked, makeup getting ruined. That was NOT this family. They EMBRACED the rain! They knew we were all there to capture memories and that is exactly what happened. And honestly some of my all time favorite family photos came from that session – IN THE RAIN!
