A sunrise family session at Lakewood Park with one of the sweetest, most fun families… this one has been on my heart for a while and I am so happy to finally share it! As a Lakewood family photographer I have always loved this location and this session reminded me exactly why. Gorgeous sunrise, Lake Erie, the Cleveland skyline, and a two year old who absolutely stole the show at the playground. Let’s get into it!

Lakewood Family Photographer – Why Lakewood Park is So Special

Lakewood Park sits right along the Lake Erie shoreline and honestly the views are just unreal – especially at sunrise. We got some beautiful shots with the lake, the Cleveland skyline, and that gorgeous morning light all in the background. We also spent some time at the Solstice Steps which is such a unique and beautiful spot within the park. So much variety all in one location! One thing worth mentioning – a sunrise session here feels completely different from a sunset session. At sunrise the park is peaceful, quiet, and practically all yours. Sunset tends to bring out a lot more people which means less privacy, more distractions, and less space to spread out and just be your family. If you can do sunrise, do sunrise. It is so worth it! Lakewood Park is one of my favorites on the west side and I really think you should consider it for your next family session.

This Family

Goofy, loving, and happy – that is how this family describes themselves and it could not be more perfect. They love going on walks together, listening to music, dancing at home, and visiting with family. Their session was all about feeling relaxed, natural, and happy – and they delivered on every single one of those! You can just feel how much love is in this family through every image. Their little girl was around two at the time and a little shy at first – but more on that in a minute!

The Session

We started at Lakewood Park with the lake and skyline as our backdrop and the sunrise was just stunning that morning. One of my favorite things from this part of the session was all the images of their little one walking in the middle, holding onto both of their hands. So simple and so sweet – exactly the kind of moment you never want to forget. We also made a quick stop at the Solstice Steps and got a couple of really sweet candid moments there too.

Then we ended the session the best possible way – at the playground! And that is where everything really opened up. Their daughter had been a little shy at first but the playground? Total game changer. The biggest smiles, so much laughter, and the most beautiful candid moments. It is always so fun when a session ends at the playground – kids just light up and the images are always some of the best ones of the day. This was no exception!
