Where to start with this one. Well I guess I could say that this family is like family to us, so this newborn session was very near and dear to my heart. I was honored and SO HAPPY to do this session – my first time back doing in-home photography sessions after I was fully vaccinated. This family of three became a family of four and not only was I excited to do the session, but so excited to see my friends and meet their beautiful new baby girl!

You’ll see from the images that I also spent some time with their oldest. I try to always make it a point to get some images of the older kid(s) in their room or somewhere in the house as well. It’s important to me to make them feel just as a part of the newborn session as the new baby. The same little guy needed a break, which is understandable, so I was also able to get some images of just mom and dad with the baby together. The nice thing about a newborn session being longer is making time to capture moments in all different kinds of groupings.

Another exciting thing that happened during this newborn session was that I also made a film. I got into filmmaking over a year ago, not far into the pandemic. It was somewhat therapeutic to do something creative during that time when I felt like I wasn’t able to do what I usually do while staying home all the time. I was so glad I could create not only moments on paper, but moving moments of love and connection as well. I think it’s so important to have keepsakes like these to go back and look at in the future for everyone in the family. Check out the film below!
